Xbox Game Pass games: New free titles to play in August 2023
All the Xbox Game Pass games you need to know about!
Xbox Game Pass in August 2023 is bringing us some hard-as-nails 2D platforming, some horror, and an homage to classic SNES JRPGs.
It's another varied month of big and small releases on the subscription platform.
August also gives us our final batch of Games with Gold free titles - included as part of Game Pass Ultimate. From 1st September we won't be getting free Games with Gold anymore, as the service is put out to pasture and Game Pass Core comes in.

Xbox Game Pass games: new free titles for August 2023
The new free Xbox Game Pass games for August 2023 are:
- Celeste - 1st August
- Everspace 2 - 15th August
- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 18th August
- Sea of Stars - 29th August

The free Xbox Game Pass games for July 2023 are:
- Arcade Paradise - 3rd July
- Sword and Fairy 7 - 5th July
- Exoprimal - 14th July
- Techtonica - 18th July
- The Wandering Village - 20th July
- Venba - 31st July
Xbox Games with Gold for August 2023
Of course, the Game Pass titles aren't the only options that players will have. You also qualify for Games with Gold, so you'll have other games to try out too.
From 1st August-31st August you can claim Blue Fire and Intertial Drift for free. It's worth noting that these two games will be the final ones of the service.
Xbox Live Gold is being discontinued from 1st September and those who keep up the subscription will be swapped over to Xbox Game Pass Core, which removes the two free monthly games and replaces them with a library of 25 titles - including Halo 5: Guardians, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and Forza Horizon 4, to name a few.
