Review

A rockumentary with a difference charts the unlikely rise of Ed Sheeran from an awkward youth who looked nothing like a pop star to a singer who, gradually, established himself as one of the biggest pop artists in the world. But the second half of this story, the bit with the albums selling millions of copies and the huge arenas filled with hollering fans, has a shadow over it: the death last year of Sheeran’s friend and mentor, the music entrepreneur/influencer Jamal Edwards, is shown to have had a profound effect, which Sheeran was forced to cope with as the gigs and the media appearances kept coming.
