Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Tom Hardy returns as the symbiotic ""Lethal Protector" in this warped buddy movie sequel. After the explosive climax of the first film, Eddie Brock and Venom are attempting to keep a low profile while under police surveillance. Brock's journalism career is getting back on track, and when imprisoned serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) grants him an exclusive interview, it's an offer he can't resist. The encounter leads to Cletus getting his own symbiote, so it's up to Brock/Venom to put squabbles aside and stop Carnage's rampage to find his lost love Shriek (Naomie Harris). The film has its funny moments and is at its best when twitchy Brock is sparring with no-holds-barred Venom and shopkeeper Mrs Chen (Peggy Lu). Harrelson adds campy swagger, but a flimsy story and underdeveloped characters, in particular Shriek and Stephen Graham's Detective Mulligan, let it all down.
